Catholic faithful and pilgrims queued for an hour and a half on Thursday to pay homage to the remains of St Pio, better known as Padre Pio, at the basilica of S. Lorenzo fuori le mura (St Lawrence Outside the Walls) in Rome.
Visitors waited in an orderly line in the square next to the monumental Verano cemetery to enter the Capuchin church.
The remains of the saint arrived in the capital on Wednesday for a series of Jubilee events culminating in a papal audience in St. Peter's Square on February 6 for St Pio prayer groups.
