Italy has never insulted the
European Commission despite EC President Jean-Claude Juncker's
assertion that Premier Matteo Renzi has unfairly criticised it,
the foreign undersecretary for European affairs, Sandro Gozi,
said Friday.
Stressing that it was, however, "not the time for putting
things off or inertia," Gozi said "we have never insulted the
Commission and have never meant to offend anyone".
He said that "we are very committed towards change in the
EU and we have said and done this since the start of the Renzi
government and above all in the duty presidency of the EU".
