Italy is still banking on
arbitration at the Hague to resolve the case of two marines held
since 2012 on suspicion of killing two Indian fishermen, the
foreign ministry said Thursday.
The ministry denied an Indian newspaper report on alleged
secret talks between Rome and New Delhi to draw up a 'road map'
for the case of Salvatore Girone and Massimiliano Latorre.
"Italy will continue to press its arguments in the seat of
arbitration," a statement from the ministry said, adding that
Italy will soon file a request to have Girone return to Italy
for the duration of the arbitration.
