Italy's intelligence services will be able to make use of the country's crack special forces for their missions, according to an amendment to a decree on Italian military missions that is being examined in the Lower House. Premier Matteo Renzi's government is working to reinforce security and intelligence to face the threat of Islamist terrorism in the wake of last week's Paris attacks. The amendment says that the premier's office will be able to order "intelligence measures to combat crisis situations or emergencies abroad that involve aspects of national security or the protection of Italian citizens abroad, with the cooperation of defence structures".
