In Italy in 2013 there were 10,964 so-called 'partecipate' - firms that public bodies hold a stake in - which generated a total added value of more than 57 billion euros when excluding finance or insurance businesses, said Istat in a report released Monday. The national statistics agency said 7,767 of these firms were considered active and employ nearly one million workers - 927,559.
