Northern League leader Matteo
Salvini, emboldened by opinion polls suggesting he is seen by
Italians as the new leader of the centre right, on Friday
demanded an urgent meeting with Premier Matteo Renzi to discuss
Italy's problems.
"One can't work on emergencies just with tweets," Salvini
told the Quotidiano Nazionale (QN) newspaper.
"First there is agriculture, then security, immigration and
the (city) councils must close their accounts by the end of the
year.
"I want a meeting quickly".
Speaking about his leadership role, Salvini added "nobody
believed it would happen, but instead ... it is a great
responsibility, but we are only at the start".
"I say to our allies - we are equal shareholders with the
same dignity".
