Italy will not participate in
anti-Islamic State (ISIS) coalition bombings in Iraq, Premier
Matteo Renzi told a talk show on RAI public broadcaster at the
weekend.
"That decision is not on the agenda," he said.
"It is a fact that in principle we can intervene militarily
in some situations, but the Iraq situation does not have those
characteristics, at least for now".
Renzi went on to say that the fight against ISIS must
include Turkey and Russia.
"Either we come up with an overall strategy, or we are all
victims of a strategy that continues on a day by day basis," he
said.
