Rome Prefect Franco Gabrielli on
Monday said that international terrorism from groups such as
ISIS is a "concrete and real threat" to Rome during the Catholic
Church's extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy beginning December 8,
but the city will take measures to prepare.
"This is a Jubilee in the times of ISIS, of an almost
epochal radicalization, and so we have to refine our tools as
much as possible. If you think that we're saying that for
superstition, make no mistake: we think that international
terrorism is a concrete and real threat. But like all threats,
that doesn't mean we have to shut ourselves down. We have to
equip ourselves so that the threat doesn't materialize in a
negative way," Gabrielli said.
