The Rome city council member for
public works, Maurizio Pucci, said Friday work to revamp the
Termini station area ahead of the Jubilee will begin September
7.
The rest of the work sites will open between September
25-30, and work will be finished before December 8, he said.
Pope Francis has declared an extraordinary Holy Year, or
Jubilee, on the theme of divine mercy to begin on December 8 and
continue until November 20, 2016.
Millions are expected in Rome as a result, and city hall
has launched a packet of measures to fill potholes, refurbish
parks, and carry out other much-needed repairs to the tune of 50
million euros.
