Riccardo Muti and his Luigi
Cherubini Youth Orchestra won delirious applause for their
performance of Verdi's Ernani at the Grosses Festspielhaus in
Salzbburgh.
The performance marked the youth orchestra's debut at
Sazburg's prestigious summer music festival, the only Italian
orchestra invited to play there.
The orchestra founded by Muti in 2004 was literally
submerged by chorus of bravos and a string of ovations.
Ernani, which is based on a play by Victor Hugo, was the
last opera running at the festival which wraps up on August 30.
