The six-month Milan Expo 2015 running through October is a success in terms of visitor satisfaction, Lombardy Governor Roberto Maroni told Radio Montecarlo on Wednesday.
"Expo is a success, you just need to hear what people are saying when they go visit the Universal Exposition: 90% of those interviewed say they had fun and 65% say they will be back", Maroni said of the food-themed world's fair.
The governor said he wanted the event, which runs under the banner 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life', to also be successful in terms of promoting the key issues it represents, including nutrition and food safety as well as the fight against hunger and food waste.
The fair will be successful, "if we will succeed in turning into concrete actions the Milan Charter, the document that has already been signed by half a million people and talks about the fight against food counterfeiting". The charter commits the individuals, associations and companies that sign it to take responsibility with respect to their activities while asking governments and international institutions to adopt rules and policies that ensure a fairer and more sustainable future for the planet.
