The Senate on Wednesday rejected a
petition from the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S) for a
bill on whether to keep the euro as Italy's current to be put to
urgent discussion. The Northern League joined the M5S in voting
in favour. The M5S and the League are both hostile to the
European Union and celebrated Greece's No to creditors proposals
to avert a default in Sunday's referendum.
