Premier Matteo Renzi said Tuesday
that all of the European Union must accept migrants quotas
because the problem of waves of arrivals across the
Mediterranean cannot be handled by Italy alone. "The EU for the
first time has said that the problem is not only Italian," Renzi
said in an interview with TV's Porta a Porta. "The countries
agreed to send ships but they must accept the principle of
quotas," and accept responsibility for a share of the migrants,
he added. France and Spain have questioned the quotas.
