The Finance Guard on Thursday
seized an estimated 1.2 million euros in assets from the heirs
of a prominent cigarette smuggler.
Raffaele D'Errico died abroad in 2010.
Assets seized include six apartments in Naples and on the
island of Ischia, two garage businesses, and several bank
accounts.
According to investigators, D'Errico had amassed a
substantial fortune during his lifetime.
His heirs drew attention to themselves because they
declared income that was not consistent with their real estate
transactions, according to the Finance Guard.
