Half a million pilgrims
crammed into St Peter's to see Sunday's double canonisation of
John Paul II and John XXIII, the Vatican press office said
shortly after the event.
In all, 800,000 people enjoyed the canonisation of the two
20th-century titans by Pope Francis and his predecessor Pope
Emeritus Benedict XVI, including those watching at maxi-screens
outside the Vatican, the press office said.
