Prosecutor files to dismiss case

Part of larger probe into effects of Consob chief's statements

(ANSA) - Rome, June 24 - The Rome prosecutor's office on Friday filed to dismiss a case against a financial intermediary accused of obstructing oversight, in which investigators also questioned Premier Matteo Renzi as a "person informed on the facts" of the case. The case is part of a larger insider trading probe that began in February 2015 after the head of Italian market regulator Consob, Giuseppe Vega, made statements about privileged information having been released to investors regarding a government measure to save four failed Italian banks last year.
