'Anti-M5S' norm stripped

No compulsory statute, but transparency

(ANSA) - Rome, May 3 - The rapporteur of a bill on political parties, Matteo Richetti of the Democratic Party (PD), presented to the House constitutional affairs committee Tuesday a unified text stripping a norm calling for a formal statute that had been depicted as being against the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S). The new bill calls for compulsory transparency on party affairs and funding but no longer makes it obligatory to have a statute. M5S founder Beppe Grillo prides himself on the movement not having a formal statute like traditional parties.
