2 nabbed for extorting 41 elderly people

'Scammed 284,000 euros'

(ANSA) - Milan, August 23 - Italian police on Wednesday arrested a 40-year-old man and his partner for allegedly extorting money from 41 elderly people.
    The pair allegedly got their victims to subscribe to bogus police publications and then posed as court-appointed officials to demand alleged shortfalls in payment.
    They allegedly scammed a total of 284,000 euros, police said.
