Italian police on Wednesday
arrested a 40-year-old man and his partner for allegedly
extorting money from 41 elderly people.
The pair allegedly got their victims to subscribe to bogus
police publications and then posed as court-appointed officials
to demand alleged shortfalls in payment.
They allegedly scammed a total of 284,000 euros, police said.
