Two nuns detained, NCD Senator arrest asked

(ANSA) - Bari, June 10 - Finance police were serving 10 arrest warrants Wednesday including against two nuns in the southern region of Puglia on charges of belonging to a crime gang that allegedly bilked 500 million euros in the fraudulent bankruptcy of the Divine Providence nursing homes, police said. Three of the warrants were served against people already in prison while seven were served on people placed under house arrest in connection with the bankruptcy of the Divine Providence Congregation, a religious order involved in providing health care with offices in the southern cities of Bisceglie, Foggia and Potenza, police sources said. Police also requested the arrest of a New Centre Right-Popular Area (NCD-AP) Senator, Antonio Azzollini, the chair of the Senate's budget committee. The request was filed with the upper house's parliamentary immunity panel.
