One killed in fire at plant used by asylum seekers

Two injured in blaze at Sesto Fiorentino

(ANSA) - Rome, January 12 - A 35-year-old African was killed overnight in a blaze at an abandoned factory used as a dormitory by asylum seekers at Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, sources said Thursday. A group of around 80 Africans, many Somali, have lived at the plant for two years. Two other asylum seekers suffered smoke intoxication, but their condition is said not to be serious.
