Problems in the Italian economy that hamper growth are the same now as they were during the 1980s, the Governor of the Bank of Italy Ignazio Visco said Friday. Those include low levels of competition, inadequate services and severe corruption that hampers investment. In the past those factors contributed to high inflation, but today, the problems are shown in a very low level of growth in Italy gross domestic product (GDP), he said.
