D'Amico International Shipping, a
market leader in the tanker sector, closed 2015 with a net
profit of $54.5 million, its best result since 2009.
Its base-time charter earnings in 2015 were $310.7 million,
up from $212.5 million in 2014.
"Thanks to a very favourable tanker market," said CEO Marco
Fiori, "we reached a daily spot tariff of $18,814, corresponding
to a year-on-year growth of 37%".
According to Fiori, low oil prices have sent world
consumption of oil up.
The company has launched a growth plan by ordering 22 new
sips at historically low prices.
The group in 2015 recorded an EDITDA almost three times
higher than 2014, as well as a positive operational cash flow of
$68.5 million.
