Liguria Governor Giovanni Toti, under
house arrest in a corruption probe, on Thursday reiterated his
innocence and said he would be able to show his management of
the northwestern Italian region was clean.
"I did not commit any crime. Now I'm thinking of arriving at the
questioning prepared to demonstrate the correctness of my
conduct," he said through his lawyer after being told he will be
questioned in two weeks' time.
The lawyer, Stefano Savi, said Toti was "reacting positively.
"He is studying the case papers and he is working.
"He would have preferred a faster time frame for the face to
face with the magistrates but he is waiting".
