Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri
and Tuttosport Editor-in-chief Guido Vaciago said Friday that
they have made peace after the latter accused the former of
insulting and threatening him following Juve's 1-0 win over
Atalanta in the Italian Cup final in Rome on Wednesday.
"With reference to the events that occurred after the
Atalanta-Juventus match and the spat in the media between them
yesterday, Coach Massimiliano Allegri and Tuttosport
Editor-in-chief Guido Vaciago state that, after speaking to each
other, they have resolved the unpleasant situation and settled
all their issues in a spirit of collaboration and with a sense
of responsibility," Allegri and Vaciago said in a joint
statement to ANSA.
"Massimiliano Allegri expressed regret for what happened on
Wednesday night, explaining that he did not intend to threaten
or insult Guido Vaciago at all".
Sources said on Thursday that Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC)
sporting prosecutors were opening a probe into the case.
Allegri looks set to leave Juve in the close season after a
largely disappointing season and his extraordinary outburst on
Wednesday, in which he railed against match and club officials,
tore off his jacket and tie and stormed down the touchline
before going on to have a furious argument with Vaciago in the
tunnel after the match.
