President Ursula von der Leyen (L) delivers a speech at the
opening of an international donors' conference in support of the
people in earthquake stricken regions in Turkey and Syria, in
Brussels, Belgium, 20 March 2023. More than 50,000 people died
and thousands more were injured after major earthquakes struck
southern Turkey and northern Syria on 06 February and again on
20 February 2023. Hundreds of thousands were left homeless.
