August 2022. Bassam al-Sheikh Hussein stormed a Hamra-based bank
while armed on 11 August, and kept employees and clients as
hostages demanding to be given his deposits. Federal Bank
announced in a statement on 12 August that it would temporarily
close its Hamra branch, where Bassam al-Sheikh Hussein held
hostages in an hours-long standoff. (ANSA).
