    Pakistani authorities on 29 April launched a week-long campaign to vaccinate 24 million children against poliovirus in 91 selected districts, aiming to eliminate the disease from the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates at the World Economic Forum's special meeting in Riyadh, discussing Pakistan's efforts to eradicate polio and seeking continued partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, according to a statement released by the Prime Ministers Office (PMO). Pakistan and Afghanistan are the only two nations where poliovirus is still endemic.
