(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 9 - Following the country's two mass
shootings, the EU Delegation in Serbia has postponed all Europe
Day events and campaigns in Serbia. Every May 9, Europe observes
Europe Day to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Schuman
Declaration.
"In light of the tragedies that happened in the last few days in
Serbia that took the lives of too many innocent people,
children, school staff, we consider that times are not to
celebrate, but to mourn and grieve," EU Ambassador Emanuele
Giaufret said. Instead of a series of planned events, Tanja
Miscevic, Serbian Minister for European Integration, and the
Embassies of EU Member States in Serbia will unveil a flower
installation in Kalemagdan Fortress today. The flower
installation will represent the European Union and Serbia paying
tribute to the victims and expressing solidarity with the
victims' families and friends, the EU Delegation informed.
