(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 31 - After a calm night, this morning
several thousand Serbian protesters gathered in front of the
Municipality building in Zvecan, one of the four major
municipalities in the north with a Serbian majority. They
reiterated their demands to the Pristina leadership, including
the withdrawal of police units from the Serbian-majority north
of Kosovo and the refusal of newly-elected Albanian mayors to
take office in the Serbian municipalities of the north. The
situation remains calm but tense, with a strong presence of
police and NATO troops in the area. (ANSA).
