A congress across borders to cooperate on palliative care

At Trieste University with Slovenia, Croatia,Austria,the Balkans

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 13 APR - To foster the exchange of experiences, organizational models, and best practices between neighboring countries in palliative care, front-run the development of future collaborative and cooperative projects, and help improve and implement organizational models on their territory.
    These were the goals of the international conference "Overcoming Barriers and Borders in Palliative Care. 100-UniTs of Opportunities," which will take place at the University of Trieste on May 24 and 25.
    The Italian Society of Palliative Care organizes the event on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the University of Trieste. It features the collaboration of WHO Europe and the CEI, Central European Initiative.
    Delegations from Austria, Croatia, and Slovenia (under the patronage of their respective scientific societies) will attend the congress. The Western Balkan countries " testify to the increasingly important interest in palliative medicine and palliative care," reads a statement from the Julian Isontine University Health Authority. The focus of the congress is the sick person and their family, with all the complex needs, not only clinical, they have to face in the advanced and terminal stages of illnesses." (ANSA).
