(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 7 - The 24th edition of pordenonelegge, Festival of Books and Freedom, kicked off Wednesday in Prague, a choice not accidental given that the Czech capital remains in history as the head of the "Velvet Revolution" of 1989, capable of defeating dictatorship with mass cultural and social mobilization.
Kicking off the event, at Spazio Opero, in the center of Prague, was a discussion between the president of Fondazione Pordenonelegge.it Michelangelo Agrusti, who also leads Confindustria Alto Adriatico, and economist and analyst Tomáš Sedláček, author of 'Economics of Good and Evil' and former economic advisor to Vaclav Havel, as well as a frequent speaker at the World Economic Forum.
The key theme of the meeting, moderated by pordenonelegge artistic director Gian Mario Villtalta, was 'Economy and Freedom,' namely the delicate economic moment and the short-and medium-term prospects for Europe, caught in the grip of financial and energy crises, war, and inflation.
These topics will also be the focus of the 24th edition of pordenonelegge, scheduled Sept. 13-17 in downtown Pordenone and other venues in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The audience will meet 58 Italian and international guests in 334 events over five days.
