(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JAN 23 - To promote Italy's role in the
Western Balkans, one of the priorities of the new government,
and at the same time, enhance the European integration and
economic growth of the countries in the region. These are the
goals of the national conference "Italy and the Western Balkans:
growth and integration," an initiative of the Farnesina and
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, to be held tomorrow in Trieste.
Tajani will open the forum, flanked by the Undersecretary at
the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Sandra Savino. Also on the
agenda are a video greeting by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and
a speech by the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and
Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi. In addition, representatives of
the most important associations of the Italian manufacturing
sector, companies, and institutions such as CEI, SACE, SIMEST,
FINEST, EIB, EBRD, and others will attend the conference.
The schedule includes 'panels' dedicated to the objectives of
the Italy-Western Balkans partnership, with the participation of
Italian ambassadors in the region, tools available to the
private sector and for the internationalization of businesses,
and international tools to support economic growth.
Also on the agenda is the presentation of the project "Go!
2025 Nova Gorica and Gorica European Capital of Culture 2025,"
one of the most crucial cross-border initiatives on the axis
between Italy and Slovenia, also from a symbolic point of view.
The national conference marks Italy's renewed commitment to
the Balkans outside the EU, not only on the European integration
front but also on that of Italy's economic presence in the area,
with Balkan economic growth seen as key to stability and
