(ANSA) - ASCOLI PICENO, 16 GEN - Joint programs between Tirana, the European Capital of Sport 2023, and Ascoli Piceno, the European City of Sport 2025, but also the promotion of sustainable tourism, the development of economic-cultural exchanges, the increase of school and university educational trips and the enhancement of their respective artistic-natural heritages were the critical issues of a series of institutional meetings of Ascoli Mayor Marco Fioravanti in Tirana on January 15.
The first citizen met Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment Vilma Bello, Deputy Minister of Sports Endri Hoxha, Deputy Minister of Education Nina Guga, and Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj.
"It was an important day, which allowed us to create a closer tie with Tirana and Albania," Fioravanti commented, "a synergy aimed, on the one hand, at making both communities aware of the understanding of each other's cultures and on the other hand, at making our beautiful city, which Mayor Veliaj has visited, more and more known." During the day in Albania, the mayor visited the Italian School in Tirana, opened in 2018 by Ascoli's Sara Alesi, Daniela Corrias, and Concetta Marotta. The institute, the only Italian-language comprehensive school in Albania, has about 100 pupils of different nationalities, from 5 years old to secondary school.
Among the meetings was one with Italy's ambassador, Fabrizio Bucci. "It was an opportunity," Fioravanti said, "to discuss the increase in relations between the two nations, especially given the many Italians now living in Albania and the growth of Italian companies in the country, which is investing in services and economic development."
