(ANSA) - FRASCINETO, 04 GIU - Albanian Prime Minister Edi
Rama, who has been visiting the Italo-Albanian towns of Calabria
since yesterday, stopped in Frascineto this morning. The
Albanian premier was welcomed in the hall of the City Council.
Doing the honors was Mayor Angelo Catapano. Present were the
premieres the citizens of Acquaformosa, Civita Spezzano Albanese
and Vaccarizzo Albanese and the vice president of the provincial
administration of Cosenza Giancarlo Lamensa. "For us it is an
important moment," Rama said in greeting the community, "to save
this heritage represented by the Arberesh world. We are
committed in that direction, to defend our common belonging."
The premier welcomed the proposal made yesterday by the eparch
of Lungro, Monsignor Donato Oliverio, to twin Italo-Albanian
municipalities with those of Albania. Edi Rama, in the course of
his speech, also pledged to provide educational materials in the
Albanian language, to local kindergartens as well as to foster
and intensify cultural exchanges between the Italo-Albanian and
Albanian communities. (ANSA).
