(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 17 FEB - "We succeeded in keeping the
border open between our two countries," Slovenia and Italy.
"This is a significant area for the EU as well: it is a
crossroads of peoples and cultures. These themes were the main
topic of our conversations focused on the event of Nova
Gorica-Gorizia European Capital of Culture - Go! 2025. We also
considered how Slovenia and Friuli Venezia Giulia will ensure
that this project can be a source of pride for all who live in
this area." That is what Matej Arčon, Minister for Relations
between the Republic of Slovenia and the indigenous Slovenian
national community in the neighboring countries - and between
the Republic of Slovenia and Slovenes around the world - said at
the end of a meeting today in Trieste with FVG governor
Massimiliano Fedriga.
"At the meeting - reported a statement issued by the FVG
region - there was shared optimism for the path to 2025, with a
commitment to intensify and speed up all actions that can ensure
a successful outcome of the event and monitor them. "This is a
unique opportunity not only for Italy and Slovenia but for
Europe," Fedriga pointed out. (ANSA).
