(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 11 - Frontex reported today that
between January and July, the Western Balkan route, which is the
second busiest after the Mediterranean route, detected over
52,200 irregular migrants. This is a 26% decrease year on year,
which Frontex attributes primarily to stricter visa policies.
Syrians, Afghans, and Turks make up the majority of the region's
migrant population. (ANSA).
