Italy, seven other countries against Euro 7, 'unrealistic'

Joint non-paper on car engines sent to the European Commission

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 22 - A coalition of countries that oppose the Euro 7 emissions standards for car engines is exerting renewed pressure on leaders of the European Union (EU).

Italy, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary have collaborated in sending a joint non-paper to the European Commission, as well as to other member states and the current EU presidency. This non-paper, it has been learned, aims to outline their collective concerns about the proposed regulation from Brussels. The eight countries contend that the proposal is deemed unrealistic and carries the potential for adverse effects on investments in an industry that is already undergoing a transition towards electric vehicles.
