Orcel, 'a model for entering Central and Eastern EU markets.'

(ANSA) - MILAN, 17 APR - Unicredit and Alpha Services could make another acquisition in Romania once their subsidiaries are integrated, the two CEOs, Andrea Orcel and Vassilios Psaltis, said in an interview on Bloomberg.
Last October, the two groups announced a merger deal in Romania and a strategic partnership in Greece. The deal will generate additional net income for Unicredit of at least 100 million from 2026.
"We are both committed to Romania. We like Romania, and we see a lot of value there," Orcel said. "If and when there is an opportunity, we will consider," he added, "even cooperative acquisitions." Born out of a desire to increase UniCredit's size in Romania, the agreement with Alpha Bank has evolved into a partnership that Orcel said could become a model for the Italian bank's entry into new markets.
"We are interested in developing other markets directly in Central and Eastern Europe. If I can replicate the operation with partners that make sense for UniCredit, I will do it," the CEO explained. (ANSA).
