(ANSA-AFP) - MOSCOW, FEB 28 - Pro-Russian separatist
officials in the breakaway Moldovan region of Transnistria have
appealed to Moscow for "protection", according to a resolution
passed by a special congress of the region on Wednesday.
Officials will ask Russia's Federation Council and State Duma
"to implement measures to protect Transnistria in the face of
increased pressure from Moldova", the resolution said, according
to local and Russian news agencies. (ANSA-AFP).
