Voting takes place for presidential and parliamentary elections

(ANSA) - SKOPJE, 17 FEB - North Macedonia will vote for presidential and parliamentary elections on April 24 and May 8, respectively, the latter date on which a possible presidential runoff is also scheduled. This was announced by Parliament Speaker Jovan Mitreski, at the same time also launching an appeal for fairness so that the election campaign will be conducted in a peaceful and democratic atmosphere. Following the resignation on Jan. 25 of Macedonia's social democratic premier, Dimitar Kovacevski, and his government, a new executive took office on Jan. 28 to bring the country to the polls, headed by Talat Dzaferi. North Macedonia is a member country of NATO and aims to join the EU. (ANSA).
