Serbia has the most powerful Army in the region: media

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 20 GEN - The United States has the strongest army in the world, while in the Western Balkans region, the most powerful army is that of Serbia, which ranks 56th globally out of 145 countries, according to this year's ranking of the world's strongest armies compiled by the defense data platform Global Firepower.
    Serbian Monitor portal reported that after the United States, Russia ranks second and China third.
    In that ranking, among the top 10 countries with the most potent military are India, South Korea, Great Britain, Japan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Italy.
    Among the countries in the Balkan region, Serbia has the most powerful armed forces, ranking 56th in the world, followed by the armies of Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kosovo. Croatia ranks 66th, Albania 90th, North Macedonia 110th, Bosnia and Herzegovina 116th, and Montenegro 129th.
    The military strength ranking is based on more than 60 factors, including the number of soldiers, military equipment, financial stability, geographical location, and available resources.
    From the beginning of the change in the world's geopolitical situation in 2014 until the end of 2023, the Serbian Armed Forces purchased weapons and military equipment worth $2.87 billion. Romania and Hungary, which have decisively increased their military budgets, buy the most significant quantities of weapons across the region. (ANSA).
