(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 21 - There is great anticipation in
Kosovo,
Srpska Lista (SL), the largest party of Kosovo Serbs, for what
may happen next Sunday, the local election day in the four
largest municipalities with a Serb majority in the county's
north.
The new mayors are going to replace those who resigned last
November, along with the other Serb representatives in all the
country's institutions - police, schools, courts, and public
administrations - in protest against the failure to establish
the Community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo and the presence
of units of the special police from Pristina in the
Serb-majority north.
Srpska Lista (SL), the largest party of Kosovo Serbs, intends to
boycott the vote, claiming the persisting reasons for the
November protest, which broke out amidst the license plate
crisis.
As a result, most ethnic Serbs, the primary ethnicity in the
involved municipalities, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, Leposavic, and the
northern (Serbian) sector of Kosovska Mitrovica, are likely to
desert the polls. (ANSA).
