(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 1 - Greek Transport and Infrastructure
Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis resigned on Wednesday in the
aftermath of a deadly train collision in central Greece, the
daily Kathimerini reported. "It is what I feel is my duty as the
smallest sign of respect to the memory of the people who died so
unjustly and assuming the responsibility for the deficiencies of
the Greek state and the political system through the years,"
said Karamanlis, quoted by the daily. Authorities meanwhile said
at least 40 people were killed and dozens were injured when two
trains collided head-on near the city of Larissa. (ANSA).
