(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 13 FEB - Fincantieri and Leonardo signed several additional memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with potential new Greek suppliers to cooperate with the local industrial ecosystem and strengthen collaboration between Italy and Greece. With the signing - a joint statement pointed out - the two companies laid the foundations for the definition of a possible business relationship.

The event took place today in Elefsis, where Onex Elefsis Shipyards is based, "a pivotal site - the statement explains - of Fincantieri's strategy should the Group, as prime contractor, be awarded the Hellenic Navy corvette program promoted by the Greek Ministry of Defense." Italy's team, including Fincantieri and Leonardo - as system integrator for the Combat Management System and the primary naval sensors, systems, and artillery - and MBDA Italia and Elettronica, "is united in supporting the development of a wide-ranging shipbuilding partner with advanced and reliable skills." Following the deal to initiate a possible supply chain in Greece, Fincantieri signed an agreement with Onex Shipyards & Technologies Group to establish a production and maintenance line for corvettes throughout their lifecycle at Elefsis shipyards.
