Germany: inflation at +7.2% in April

Rate slowed for the second month in a row

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 10 - Germany's inflation rate, as measured by the year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI), was +7.2% in April 2023, according to the German statistical office Destatis. The inflation rate in March 2023 was +7.4%. "Inflation has thus slowed for the second month in a row, but it remains high," says Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Statistical Office. "Food prices continued to be the biggest driver of inflation in April, according to the basket of goods and services surveyed," Brand says. According to Destatis, consumer prices climbed 0.4% in April 2023 compared to March 2023. (ANSA).
