(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 27 - Kai Wegner from the CDU is the
new mayor of the city-state of Berlin. He was elected this
afternoon by the Berlin parliament, with the votes of a grand
coalition between his party and the SPD. However, confirmation
came only on the third round of voting, after difficulties in
the first two, confirming the dissent of some Social Democrats
over the new alliance. The CDU thus returns to lead the German
capital after 22 years. (ANSA).
