(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APR 27 - In 2022, EU countries awarded
refuge to 384 245 asylum applicants, a 40% increase over 2021
(275 040). This information comes from Eurostat data on asylum
decisions, which was released today. Germany recorded the
biggest number of people granted protection status (159 365, 41%
of the EU total), followed by France (49 990, 13%), Italy (39
660, 10%), and Spain (35 765, 9%). These four nations granted
73% of all EU-level protection requests. (ANSA).
