(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 8 - Following the discovery of
radioactive material in their vehicle, three Croatian nationals
have been detained in Serbia, according to Serbian authorities,
the BBC reported. Scanners discovered a "serious amount" of
radiation on Saturday as they were about to enter Croatia at the
Bezdan border crossing. According to Serbian customs, a
subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the head of a
radioactive lightning rod in the spare tyre slot of the boot.
Such rods were widely used in the past, but were being phased
out in the past decades. (ANSA).
