(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 22 - According to preliminary data
published by the European Commission on Tuesday, road accidents
in the EU claimed around 20,600 lives last year, up 3% from
2021, with Slovenia recording the largest year-on-year drop with
road deaths decreasing by 25%, the Slovenian news agency STA
reports today. Romania and Bulgaria had the highest rates in
2022, with 86 and 78 deaths per million inhabitants,
respectively, while Slovenia had 40 fatalities per million
inhabitants, down 17% from 2019 and 6% lower than the EU
average. (ANSA).
